PROCOS Group joins international ITEA/VLAIO project “Adaptive Office (AdOff)” to help shape the future of human-centric workplaces

PROCOS Group joins the ITEA/VLAIO research project "Adaptive Office (AdOff)" with KU Leuven, Idewe, Delta Light and Boolean to design data-driven, human-centered workplaces of the future.

PROCOS Group is pleased to announce its participation in the “Adaptive Office (AdOff)” project—an innovative, three-year research initiative supported by ITEA and funded in Belgium by VLAIO (Flemish Agency for Innovation & Entrepreneurship). This international collaboration brings together 14 partners across four countries, all working towards one common goal: reimagining the modern office to better serve its users.

About ITEA

ITEA (Information Technology for European Advancement) is a leading European platform for collaborative R&D in software-intensive systems. It enables international consortia to tackle major challenges in areas like AI, cybersecurity, smart mobility, healthcare, and Industry 4.0. Projects under ITEA are funded by national and regional agencies—such as VLAIO in Flanders—and support cross-border innovation through annual calls for proposals.

Why AdOff?

Today’s shared office spaces often fall short of meeting employee expectations. Workers report dissatisfaction with how offices support their daily tasks and well-being—impacting not just comfort, but also productivity, health, and interpersonal relations.

While adaptive office technologies already exist, they are typically fragmented, operate in silos, and rarely account for real user needs. What’s more, there is limited data on how these technologies perform when combined in practice.

The Adaptive Office (AdOff) project aims to change that. By integrating both automated sensing (e.g. air quality, light, occupancy) and voluntary input (e.g. user preferences, feedback), the project seeks to identify workplace risks, improve the experience of office users, and enable evidence-based design and management. A central data platform will aggregate and analyze this information, helping stakeholders make smarter, more personalized decisions about how offices are used and improved over time.

A collaborative effort with strong Belgian partners

Belgium plays a prominent role in the AdOff project.

  • KU Leuven (University of Louvain) provides scientific and methodological leadership.
  • Idewe contributes knowledge in health, safety and workplace well-being.
  • Delta Light offers expertise in architectural lighting and spatial experience.
  • Boolean delivers solutions for technology integration and smart building systems.
  • PROCOS Group ensures all components come together in the practical context of real workplaces—bridging technology, data and human behavior.

“With AdOff, we aim to help create work environments that actively respond to users’ needs through real-time data and smart design,” says Jos Duchamps, Managing Director at PROCOS Group. “This project allows us to integrate technology, health, and spatial strategy in a way that makes the office truly adaptive, evidence-based, and people-focused.”

Real-world impact and future applications

By participating in the AdOff project, PROCOS Group deepens its commitment to human-centered, data-informed, and digitally enabled workplace strategies. The tools, insights and prototypes developed will directly enrich PROCOS Group’s service offering and empower clients to make better-informed decisions in today’s evolving hybrid work landscape.

As the project evolves over the next three years, PROCOS Group looks forward to sharing key results and collaborating with forward-thinking organizations ready to transform their offices into adaptive, inclusive, and resilient environments.
