After years of online meetings and virtual events, the World Workplace congress Europe was finally back in a physical format. De Hallen in Amsterdam were the perfect venue for a great event on “FM for a sustainable future”. Almost 400 professionals from over 30 countries participated to the event. They listened in on inspiring speakers, went on facility tours and discovered the great dynamics of the hosting city Amsterdam.
Main topics of the discussions were the challenges lying ahead for the facility professional after the Corona crisis, the impact and opportunities of a circular economy, the role of FM in the reduction of our carbon footprint and the acceleration of intelligent technologies in the work environment.
It was great to see our international colleagues again in the flesh and to participate to workshops, round table discussions and networking drinks. We could really experience the motivating effect of live interaction and the creative discussions that followed ad-hoc encounters.
The main take-away from this gathering was the important role the facility manager has in supporting the sustainable business operations of the future proof organisation and the way the new hybrid way of working is accelerating innovation in businesses all over the world. The congres also highlighted the opportunities that are offered by international collaboration within and between the networks of IFMA, FMN and EuroFM.
As IFMA Belgium, we were delighted to be able to participate to this international event. It showed the power of our strong international network focussed on learning and knowledge exchange.
