Day 1 Highlights:
The summit kicked off with a powerful opening by Lara Paemen, who introduced Matt Tucker, IFMA’s Global Research Director. Matt took us on a fascinating journey through the FM world, sharing impactful facts and figures. Following this, Rakesh Kishan shed light on outsourcing roles, contracts, and the growing role of AI in FM.
The afternoon featured engaging panel discussions on technology and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), sparking new ideas for the future of FM. Personally, I was thrilled to present my keynote, inspired by my book, “Disruptive Workplaces – How to Create Your Sustainable and Future-Proof Work Environment.” It was an honor to share insights with so many passionate professionals eager to learn, exchange experiences, and build meaningful connections.
Day 2 Highlights:
Sustainability took center stage on the second day, with Matt Tucker guiding us through the concept of the circular economy in FM. Yasmin Mansour and Balsam Nehme delivered thought-provoking presentations on achieving sustainability goals and addressing today’s climate challenges in facility management. These talks were a heartfelt call to action for all of us to embrace sustainability in our industry.
Cybersecurity also made its mark, with Lara Paemen emphasizing why this crucial topic should be on every FM professional’s agenda. The summit concluded with an inspiring keynote by Hayan Sayed, reflecting on the evolution of FM and envisioning its future.
A special moment of connection came when we exchanged jerseys with Matt Tucker—representing our local football teams, YR KV Mechelen and Liverpool FC—creating smiles for our sons back home!
We also had the privilege of meeting the enthusiastic board of the new IFMA UAE Chapter—a fantastic team with a bright future ahead.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in organizing this groundbreaking event. It was a privilege to be part of such an innovative and impactful gathering, and we’re already looking forward to the next chapter of FM innovation.
Here’s to a sustainable, connected, and future-ready IFMA community!
